  • History
  • The Baltic Sea is one of the most attractive holiday and getaway regions in Germany. Long beaches with fine sand stretch to the north of the Flensburg fjord and end in the east, on the island of Usedom.
The air, rich in iodine and the healing powers of both the wind and the water guarantee full relaxation of body, mind and soul.
Fehmarn offers more than 100 kilometres of paths and is known for its dry and sunny climate with more than 2,000 hours of sunlight a year.
Here you can still find small, charming ports and picturesque villages where the fishermen can be seen bringing in their catches on their shoulders.

Burg, the capital of the island, is one of the most enchanting small towns in the north of Germany. With its numerous networks of houses and cobbled streets that ooze history, it offers the chance to wander along the streets and shop at ease.
In addition to the fine, white-sand “Südstrand” beach (which in German means southern beach), the island has marvellous natural beaches, cliffs and dykes perfect for a stroll. As far as leisure and free time activities are concerned, this sunny island has much to offer such as the “Modellbahnwelt” (model train world) in Fehmarn, the silo climbing in the adventure port of Burgstaaken, the “Experimenta” and the World of Sharks attraction. Here there is a whole nature world to discover, among others, the Wallnau waterfowl reserve and the varied autochthonous wildlife.
You should not miss a day trip to see the stately homes and natural riches of the place known as “Holstein Switzerland", located near Fehmarn, nor a ferry crossing to Denmark.
