  • History
  • The Baltic Sea is one of the most attractive holiday and getaway regions in Germany. Long beaches with fine sand stretch to the north of the Flensburg fjord and end in the east, on the island of Usedom.
The air, rich in iodine and the healing powers of both the wind and the water guarantee full relaxation of body, mind and soul. Graal-Müritz is known for its specially sunny and mild climate, with little rain and its usual sea breeze.
The wonderful weather conditions are, without doubt, one of the main reasons why cranes cross the splendid Bodden scenery of the Fischland/ Darß peninsula in their flight from and towards Scandinavia. A fascinating natural spectacle! You can take a cruise along the Bodden from Wustrow, Prerow and Zingst or go by boat to Warnemünde, where you can take a stroll along the shopping street or along the “Alten Strom” and its multi-coloured cottages. The nearby Hanseatic town of Rostock also offers, as well as a wide range of shops, places of historic interest. The “Marienkirche” church, the “Zum heiligen Kreuz” monastery, the naval museum and the cruise around the port are all highly recommended.
The “Gebelsande” hunting castle, the amber museum in Ribnitz-Damgarten or the fungous museum in Neuheide are all interesting excursions which can also be done easily by bicycle.
The castles of Güstow and Schwerin, the commemorative place of Ernst Barlach in Güstrow, the amber manufacturing factory in Damgarten, the “Kerzenscheune” and the adventure park in Rövershagen are other attractions worth visiting.
