The Lopesan Villa del Conde hotel has succeeded in winning – for the second time in a row – the ‘World Travel Award’ as Spain’s best golf resort. Based on their evaluations, experts of the European tourist industry have granted this prestigious award to this resort hotel of the Lopesan Hotel Group located in Gran Canaria.

The ‘World Travel Awards’ are given every year since 1993; they are based on the votes of almost 200.000 professionals of all over Europe, being internationally considered as the “Oscars of Tourism”. This year the prizes have been awarded on the occasion of a ceremony which took place in Slovakia last Wednesday.

The five stars hotel Lopesan Villa del Conde Resort & Thalasso has succeeded in consolidating itself as one of the main references for high quality tourism in Spain because of the spectacular facilities and excellent complementary golf, congress and wellness offers.

The resort has got 561 rooms distributed around the hotel in lordly villas and it is especially outstanding due to the beauty of its architecture and also because it is operating on the tourist market with a unique environmental management system; the implantation of this system has situated the hotel amongst the European vanguard in fulfilling the Community’s standards for sustainable development.

The professionals of the European tourist industry who awarded the hotel also evaluated the spectacular facilities of Meloneras Golf, an 18 holes and par 71 golf course which has introduced the most avant-garde technology offered to players. The course has also got an excellent golf school and it is at present one of the few golf facilities of the Canary Island using on its whole extension a type of grass considered by experts to be respectful with the environment.
